Have you ever asked yourself this question: Which elected officials or government agencies are really good at communicating with the public?
Oh, you haven’t? Luck for you, I have.
Public communications is one of my favorite topics. Really.
City Controller of Los Angeles Kenneth Mejia provides an excellent example of good public communications at work. Mejia leans into the nerd business of city finances with plain language and clear visuals. His office’s website is a useful resource for the 3.8 million people who call LA home. The site even has an interactive map of public restrooms, water fountains, and mobile showers.
The chart his office produced in August about where LA’s money goes leaves nothing to the imagination.
That’s good public communications.
